This gelato with liquorice swirl is totally wicked! It will hold well, even when frozen. All you need to do is take it out and let it soften a bit. It will still retain its creamy and delicious flavour.
(serves 2-4 people)
4 x egg yolks, pasteurised
2 x tablespoons of golden syrup
400 ml of milk
3/4 cup of sugar
1 x vanilla pod
10 ml of vanilla essence
3 tablespoons of liquorice syrup
Once this is done, add golden syrup. While stirring golden syrup, add the seeds from the vanilla pod and the essence. Add the mix to the ice cream maker, let it run for about 60 minutes until it’s yummy and creamy.
Get a large bowl and garnish some liquorice on the bottom and sides. Fill the bowl with about three quarters of the prepared mix. Pour some syrup and top it up with layers of gelato and syrup until you have exhausted them. Freeze it for 60 minutes or so before serving. Enjoy!
